Well what a day it was! Last Sunday’s Bunnings BBQ fundraiser for Jome went off with a bang, raising money for equipment to make our shows bigger and better!
7am was the start with team Siobhan, Deanna, Penny and Kieran on the hot plate cooking the sausage,s unloading the ute, cutting bread (and as always Sioban whipping the team in to ship shape getting things done in an orderly fashion!) The dogs were flowing with a few rushes of customers but we smashed it – priding ourselves on NO LINES!
Up next were thr 10:30am crew. We said goodbye to 7am till 10:30 am and welcomed Tash, Tiarna, Jilly, Penny, Drew and Brandon. With the jokes from Jilly flying I had to whip Drew and Brandon into shape as they were focusing on their “Dad jokes” – “do you like my buns” and less on Brandon not cutting his finger off!
Jilly and I crowned Tiarna as a “solid” because she was serving with a smile and took to the routine like a pro. Penny headed off to the shops for more sauce to save the masses from rioting and keept the mustard lovers at bay. Then “oh no” Tiarna said…We were too low on drinks! So, into the car jumped super hero Tash for more softies back just in time to keep customers and bbqers refreshed. After a few Chinese dragon shows for the Lunar New Year and some fortune cookies it was time to say goodbye to the mid-morning crew.
1:30pm came and we welcomed a new BBQ team – but wait what is this? Tiarna and Tash hung around for a double shift! CHAMPIONS. Arriving in style and with extra supplies were Vicky and Sally both sporting amazing hangovers from Vicky’s party the night before. Sally could not handle the boys work bench so into Bunnings she went to get clean wipes and made it a mean clean onion and bun cutting machine. (Sorry boys). Olivia took over the duties cooking the sausages and Sarah was all smiles at the till.
All in all it was a great day with new crew meeting old crew, sharing storie,s having laughs and working together to raise some much needed funds.
I would like to personally thank all the Jomers that came to help – couldn’thavef done it with out you, wouldn’t trade you for any other bbqers. (Well, maybe Jilly could have traded her “FACE”) (personal joke)
‘Till next time Bunnings,
Thank you – coach Chris
