On Saturday Jome presented Cinderella a pantomime of somewhat epic proportions. What a day it was! We opened by greeting all the kids with a friendly roving elf and giving them all reindeer ears, to get into the Christmas spirit.
James and Helen were great as Buttons and Zips, the two servants in the wicked stepmother’s castle. They got the kids laughing and joining in. Seeing Helen’s face as she was pining after James was rather hilarious.
Then we met Cinderella. Dayna was the perfect Cinderella, sweet, kind and the ultimate princess. She garnered quite a few young fans in the audience, too!
Of course then came Lisa as the evil step-mother. BOO, HISS! She was so wicked she got her own theme music!
Of course what panto would be complete without some really ugly stepsisters? Well we certainly had those! Kieran and Mike were such a crack up as Grizelda and Lucretia. Mike’s interaction with the crowd was amazing!
Our panto had a bit of a twist with not one fairy but two! The delightfully sweet Airy Fairy, Elisa and the practical and professional Fairy GDM, Ella. They were flawless in their delivery and the kids loved them!
Gabby and Aaron as the King and Queen were brilliant, they had the best chemistry! The audience loved Aaron’s deadpan acting and Gabby’s regal attitude.
Speaking of regal attitudes Prince Charming aka Carlos was amazing as the suave Latin lover party Prince! And Francis shone as the hilarious and excitable Dandini. Good morrow!
The transformation scene was hilarious with the audience loving Cinderella riding off to the ball on a tinsel enshrouded bicycle! Of course, the ball was also fabulous. Highlights include, the phenomenal Siobhan as the MC, the fairies disguised with fake moustaches, Prince Charming’s dance moves and of course some terrible flirting by the ugly stepsisters.
In the end true love triumphed and we got to see Cinderella get her fella. Everyone had a great time, with kids coming up on stage to tell jokes, decorate the Christmas tree and even meet and have their photos taken with their favourite characters after the show.
Of course a show like this doesn’t just happen, so here are a few pics of some of our backstage crew:
Everyone did did such a great job, from running the bar to moving furniture, to painting backdrops and making props, selling tickets and doing the sound. Great job everyone, it was SPECTACULAR!
